J. G. Farrell（J・G・ファレル、1935–1979）は、イギリスの小説家。University of Oxfordで学び、1950年代にポリオを患った経験を経て作家活動を始めた。大英帝国の衰退と植民地主義の歴史をテーマとする作品で高く評価され、「帝国三部作（Empire Trilogy）」によって20世紀イギリス文学を代表する作家の一人となった。1973年には、インド大反乱を描いた "The Siege of Krishnapur" でBooker Prizeを受賞。1979年、アイルランドで釣り中の事故により43歳で死去した。著書に "Troubles"、"The Singapore Grip"、"The Lung" などがある。
J. G. Farrell (1935–1979) was a British novelist best known for his acclaimed Empire Trilogy, which examines the decline of the British Empire through a blend of historical insight, satire, and psychological realism. After studying at the University of Oxford and surviving a serious bout of polio in his youth, he began writing fiction that explored the moral ambiguities of colonialism and imperial power. His novel "The Siege of Krishnapur," set during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, won the Booker Prize in 1973. His other notable works include "Troubles," "The Singapore Grip," and "The Lung." Although his career was cut short by his accidental death in Ireland at the age of forty-three, Farrell is widely regarded as one of the finest British novelists of the postwar era.
