Richard H. Thaler (born 1945) is an American economist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. A pioneer of behavioral economics, he is known for integrating insights from psychology into economics to explain how people actually make decisions. His best-known book, "Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness," co-authored with Cass R. Sunstein, introduced the influential concept of "nudging"—designing choice environments that encourage better decisions while preserving individual freedom of choice.
