Richard Russo（リチャード・ルッソ、1949年生まれ）は、アメリカの小説家、脚本家。アリゾナ大学で創作の修士号（M.F.A.）を取得し、その後、大学で創作を教える傍ら執筆活動を続けた。アメリカ北東部の地方都市を舞台に、家族、労働者階級、人間関係、人生の機微をユーモアと温かなまなざしで描く作品で高く評価され、現代アメリカ文学を代表する作家の一人とされる。2001年刊行の『Empire Falls』は、衰退する工業都市に暮らす人々の人生を丹念に描いた長編小説として高く評価され、2002年のピューリッツァー賞 フィクション部門を受賞した。同作はテレビドラマ化もされている。著書に『Mohawk』『Nobody's Fool』『Straight Man』『Empire Falls』『Bridge of Sighs』『Everybody's Fool』『Somebody's Fool』などがある。
Richard Russo (born 1949) is an American novelist and screenwriter. He earned an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona and later taught creative writing while pursuing his literary career. Widely regarded as one of the leading chroniclers of small-town America, Russo is celebrated for his warm humor, compassionate characterizations, and insightful portrayals of family, working-class life, and the changing fortunes of communities in the American Northeast. His novel Empire Falls (2001), a richly textured portrait of life in a declining mill town, won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and was later adapted into a television miniseries. His other notable works include Mohawk, Nobody's Fool, Straight Man, Bridge of Sighs, Everybody's Fool, and Somebody's Fool.
