Richard Rhodes is a writer and journalist investigating science, technology and war. He held research appointments at institutions including Harvard and MIT and worked on public-television documentaries. The Making of the Atomic Bomb followed nuclear fission, the Manhattan Project and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki through relationships among scientists, political leaders and the military. It won the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle Award. Dark Sun examined hydrogen-bomb development and the emerging Cold War, tracing the intersections of research, espionage and state competition. Scientist followed E. O. Wilson's life, connecting work on ants and biodiversity with debates surrounding biology.
