Renée M. Jones is an American scholar of corporate and securities law. She is a professor at Boston College Law School, where her research focuses on corporate governance, startup finance, and securities regulation. From 2021 to 2023, she served as Director of the Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, overseeing the development and enforcement of corporate disclosure rules. In “Untamed Unicorns: Why Startup Finance Is Broken and How to Fix It,” she traces how four decades of deregulation allowed giant startups to grow without the disclosure and oversight required of public companies.
