Rebecca Perry (born 1986) is a British poet and novelist from London. Her first full-length poetry collection, "Beauty/Beauty," published in 2015, was shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize and won the Michael Murphy Memorial Prize. Her second collection, "Stone Fruit," followed in 2021. In 2026, her debut novel, "May We Feed the King," won the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize and was longlisted for the Booker Prize. The novel follows a contemporary curator whose work involves recreating historical interiors with carefully selected furniture, fabrics, food, and other objects. While working on the private rooms of a medieval palace, she becomes increasingly absorbed in the life of a largely forgotten king. As the boundaries between her own life and her reconstruction of his begin to blur, the novel examines how history is assembled from surviving objects and fragmentary records, what disappears from the historical record, and how much we can truly know about people who lived centuries before us.
