ライオネル・シュライヴァー（Lionel Shriver、1957年–）は、アメリカの小説家、評論家。ノースカロライナ州に生まれ、コロンビア大学で学んだ。高校で大量殺人を起こした少年の母親が、息子の誕生から事件までを手紙の形で振り返る『少年は残酷な弓を射る』（We Need to Talk About Kevin）で、2005年のオレンジ賞を受賞。同作はリン・ラムジー監督によって映画化された。肥満と家族関係を扱う『Big Brother』（未邦訳）や、財政危機後のアメリカ社会を描く『The Mandibles』（未邦訳）など、家族や医療、経済、人口問題を題材に、個人の選択と社会制度の衝突を描いている。
Lionel Shriver (1957–) is an American novelist and commentator. Born in North Carolina, she studied at Columbia University. Her novel “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” structured as a mother’s letters recounting her son’s life before and after he commits a mass killing at his high school, won the 2005 Orange Prize for Fiction and was later adapted into a film directed by Lynne Ramsay. Her other novels include “Big Brother,” about obesity and family responsibility, and “The Mandibles,” which imagines an American family confronting national economic collapse. Through subjects including family, health care, demography, and finance, Shriver examines conflicts between individual choice, social expectations, and institutional power.
