Owen Zidar is an American public finance economist. He is Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Using tax records and other administrative data, he studies the taxation of businesses and high-income earners, local fiscal policy, and the distribution of wealth and income. Co-authored with Eric Zwick, his forthcoming book “The Everywhere Millionaire: Who Is Really Rich in America and How They Got There” challenges the focus on famous billionaires by examining the owners of private businesses—from car dealerships and medical practices to construction and restaurant companies—and their influence on inequality and American politics.
