Ayako Onzo (born 1979) is a Japanese neuroscientist, science writer, and translator. She earned her Ph.D. from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and specializes in the neuroscience of emotion and self-awareness. She serves as a Project Researcher at the University of Tokyo and has taught at several Japanese universities. In addition to her academic work, she is widely recognized for making neuroscience accessible to general readers and for translating influential works in psychology and neuroscience into Japanese. Her best-known book, "When a Neuroscientist's Mother Develops Dementia," recounts her personal experience of caring for her mother while drawing on contemporary neuroscience to deepen understanding of dementia and family caregiving.
