Kazuki Omo is a Japanese cybersecurity specialist and senior executive officer at SIOS Technology. He has more than 20 years of experience in open-source software security and writes and lectures on operating system security, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence. His career has included positions at foreign-owned IT companies and in a bank’s information systems department. He first joined SIOS Technology in 2004 and returned in 2015 after working elsewhere, becoming an evangelist for open-source software and security. He earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential in 2012 and explains vulnerabilities and attack trends through the “SIOS SECURITY BLOG.” Examining how publicly available information can reveal weaknesses in corporate systems, “Cyber Kogeki kara Kigyo System o Mamoru! OSINT Jissen Guide” (a practical guide to protecting enterprise systems through open-source intelligence), coauthored with Yukihiro Nakamura, covers OSINT fundamentals, investigative tools, information visualization, and international use cases. It shows how organizations can examine their systems from an attacker’s perspective and take preventive action. Tracing attacks from intrusion and data theft to encryption and extortion, “Ransomware Kogeki Taisaku Manual” (a ransomware defense manual covering cybersecurity case studies and defensive strategies) explains vulnerability management, logging, backups, and response-team preparation. Drawing on actual attacks and responses, it covers initial action, containment, recovery, and public disclosure, helping corporate security teams turn advance preparation into concrete procedures for an emergency.
