老川祥一（おいかわ しょういち、1941年 - ） 日本のジャーナリスト、新聞経営者。読売新聞グループ本社代表取締役会長兼主筆。早稲田大学政治経済学部卒業後、1964年に読売新聞社へ入社。政治部記者、ワシントン特派員、編集局長、大阪本社代表取締役社長、東京本社代表取締役社長などを歴任し、長年にわたり日本の政治報道と言論を担ってきた。半世紀を超える政治取材を通じて歴代首相や政界の中枢を見続け、その豊富な取材経験をもとに日本政治の実像を描く評論・ノンフィクションを数多く執筆している。代表作『政治家の胸中――肉声でたどる政治史の現場』は、岸信介、佐藤栄作、田中角栄、小泉純一郎ら政治指導者との直接取材をもとに、戦後日本政治の舞台裏と指導者たちの人物像を描いたノンフィクションである。長年の政治記者ならではの視点から、日本政治の変遷を読み解く一冊として評価されている。
Shoichi Oikawa (born 1941) is a Japanese journalist and newspaper executive who serves as Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Yomiuri Shimbun Holdings. After joining *The Yomiuri Shimbun* in 1964, he worked as a political reporter, Washington correspondent, managing editor, and president of both the Osaka and Tokyo headquarters before assuming his current role. Drawing on more than five decades of reporting from the center of Japanese politics, he has written extensively on political leadership and postwar Japanese government. His best-known book, *Seijika no Kyōchū: Nikusei de Tadoru Seijishi no Genba* (*Inside the Minds of Politicians: An Oral History of Postwar Japanese Politics*), examines Japan's political leaders through firsthand reporting and interviews, offering an insider's perspective on the evolution of postwar politics.
