Yasuaki Oshika (born 1965) is a Japanese journalist and nonfiction writer. After graduating from Waseda University’s School of Political Science and Economics, he joined The Asahi Shimbun in 1988 and reported on corporate scandals, finance, and nuclear-energy policy. His representative work, “Meltdown: Document Fukushima Daiichi Genpatsu Jiko” (Meltdown: A Documentary Account of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Accident), reconstructs the crisis through reporting on the prime minister’s office, Tokyo Electric Power Company, and government agencies. The book received the 34th Kodansha Prize for Non-Fiction.
