Ikujiro Nonaka (1935–2025) was a Japanese management scholar and Professor Emeritus at Hitotsubashi University. He was internationally renowned for his pioneering work on organizational knowledge creation and as the originator of the SECI model, which explains how tacit and explicit knowledge interact to generate innovation within organizations. His research laid the foundation for the field of knowledge management, and his landmark book The Knowledge-Creating Company, co-authored with Hirotaka Takeuchi, is regarded as a classic of modern management literature. His ideas transformed the way organizations around the world think about learning, innovation, and the creation of knowledge.
