Nick Srnicek (born 1982) is a Canadian political economist and thinker whose research focuses on the digital economy, artificial intelligence, the future of work, and postcapitalist futures. He is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Economy at King's College London and holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His work examines technological change in relation to business models, the structure of capitalism, and increasingly the geopolitical competition surrounding artificial intelligence. In "Platform Capitalism," Srnicek analyzes companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, and Uber as a distinctive form of business organized around the collection and exploitation of data, showing how network effects and platform dynamics encourage market concentration and give a small number of technology companies growing economic power.
