ニール・シュービン（Neil Shubin、1960年 - ） アメリカの古生物学者、進化生物学者、サイエンスライター。シカゴ大学教授。デボン紀の化石魚ティクターリクの共同発見者として知られ、魚類から四肢動物への進化を解明する研究で世界的な評価を得ている。古生物学、発生生物学、遺伝学を横断する研究を通じて、進化の過程を一般読者にもわかりやすく伝える科学コミュニケーションにも力を注いでいる。代表作『ヒトのなかの魚、魚のなかのヒト――最新科学が明らかにする人体進化35億年の旅』は、人間の体に残る進化の痕跡を手がかりに、生物がどのように現在の姿へと進化してきたのかを鮮やかに描いた科学ノンフィクションである。本書は世界的なベストセラーとなり、PBSのドキュメンタリーシリーズ "Your Inner Fish" の原作にもなった。
Neil Shubin (born 1960) is an American paleontologist, evolutionary biologist, and science writer. He is Professor of Organismal Biology and Anatomy at the University of Chicago and is best known for co-discovering *Tiktaalik roseae*, a fossil that provides a crucial link between fish and the earliest four-limbed vertebrates. Through research spanning paleontology, developmental biology, and genetics, he has helped illuminate the evolutionary origins of the human body while becoming one of the leading communicators of evolutionary science. His best-known book, "Your Inner Fish: A Journey into the 3.5-Billion-Year History of the Human Body," explains how the human body bears the imprint of its evolutionary past and became an international bestseller. It later inspired the PBS documentary series "Your Inner Fish."
