Neil Sheehan（ニール・シーハン、1936–2021）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、作家。ハーバード大学卒業後、ユナイテッド・プレス・インターナショナル（UPI）を経て、The New York Times の特派員としてベトナム戦争を取材した。1971年には、アメリカ政府のベトナム戦争に関する極秘文書「ペンタゴン・ペーパーズ」の報道に重要な役割を果たし、アメリカ調査報道史を代表するジャーナリストの一人として知られる。1988年刊行の『A Bright Shining Lie: John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam』は、米軍顧問John Paul Vannの生涯を通してベトナム戦争の本質を描いた記念碑的ノンフィクションとして高く評価され、1989年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門と全米図書賞を受賞した。
Neil Sheehan (1936–2021) was an American journalist and author. After graduating from Harvard University, he began his career with United Press International before becoming a correspondent for The New York Times, where he covered the Vietnam War. He played a pivotal role in reporting on the Pentagon Papers, the classified documents that revealed the U.S. government's internal assessments of the Vietnam War, making him one of the most influential investigative journalists in American history. His monumental book "A Bright Shining Lie: John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam" examines the Vietnam War through the life of U.S. military adviser John Paul Vann and won both the 1989 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction and the National Book Award. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest books ever written on the Vietnam War.
