西野 竜太郎（NISHINO Ryutaro）- IT分野の翻訳家、著述家

西野 竜太郎（にしの りゅうたろう）は、IT分野の翻訳と技術者向けの英語教育に取り組む翻訳家、著述家。米国留学と日本の大学での学修を経て、2002年にフリーランスの翻訳者、ソフトウェア開発者として活動を始めた。2016年にグローバリゼーションデザイン研究所の代表となり、2017年から2022年まで日本翻訳連盟の理事を務めた。2024年からはサイボウズでkintoneの画面やヘルプの英訳を担当。自著『アプリケーションをつくる英語』は、アプリを海外に公開する開発者が使う英語を扱い、第4回ブクログ大賞の電子書籍部門を受賞した。『アプリ翻訳実践入門』では、アプリの表示文言や説明を日本語と英語の間で訳す際の実務を解説。ソフトウェアを作る側と訳す側の双方に関わる活動に加え、ジェイソン・シュライアーの『リセットを押せ』（原題 “Press Reset”）を翻訳し、開発スタジオの閉鎖や大量解雇に直面したゲーム制作者たちの仕事と再出発を描くノンフィクションを紹介した。

Ryutaro Nishino is a Japanese translator and writer working on information technology and English for software professionals. After studying in the United States and graduating from a Japanese university, he began freelance translation and software development in 2002. He became head of the Globalization Design Institute in 2016 and served on the Japan Translation Federation board from 2017 to 2022. In 2024 he joined Cybozu, translating the kintone interface and help materials into English. His Japanese-language book “Apurikeeshon o Tsukuru Eigo” explains English used by developers releasing applications internationally and won the electronic-book category of the fourth Booklog Awards. Another Japanese-language book, “Apuri Honyaku Jissen Nyumon,” examines the practical work of translating application text and descriptions between Japanese and English. Alongside this work on language and software, he translated Jason Schreier’s “Press Reset” into Japanese. The book follows game developers through studio closures, layoffs, and the effort to rebuild their working lives.
