ネイサン・ヒル（Nathan Hill）は、アメリカの小説家。アイオワ州出身。短編小説を文芸誌に発表したのち、2016年に長編小説『ニックス』（原題 The Nix）でデビュー。同作はロサンゼルス・タイムズ文学賞のArt Seidenbaum Award for First Fictionを受賞し、ニューヨーク・タイムズやワシントン・ポストなどの年間ベストにも選ばれた。『ニックス』は、長年音信不通だった母親が州知事への投石事件を起こしたことから、その過去を調べ始める作家サミュエルを主人公に、1960年代の政治運動から現代のメディアやインターネット社会までを行き来しながら、母と息子の関係とアメリカ社会の変化を描いた長編小説である。
Nathan Hill is an American novelist from Iowa. After publishing short fiction in literary journals, he made his novel debut in 2016 with "The Nix," which won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize’s Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and was selected as one of the year’s best books by The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other publications. "The Nix" follows Samuel, a struggling writer who begins investigating the past of his long-absent mother after she is arrested for throwing stones at a politician. Moving between the political upheavals of the 1960s and contemporary America, the novel combines a mother-son story with a portrait of changing politics, media, and digital culture.
