Tetsu Nakamura (1946–2019) was a Japanese physician and humanitarian. Beginning in 1984, he devoted himself to medical work in Pakistan and Afghanistan, treating patients with leprosy and infectious diseases. As prolonged drought and conflict devastated local communities, he expanded his efforts beyond healthcare to lead large-scale irrigation and water management projects, restoring agriculture and livelihoods. As the local representative of Peshawar-kai, he pioneered an approach that linked healthcare with sustainable community development. His work continues to inspire humanitarian efforts that address both immediate needs and the long-term foundations of human well-being.
