略歴（Biography）
中村征夫（なかむら・いくお、1945年生まれ）は、日本を代表する水中写真家、フォトジャーナリスト。19歳で独学により水中写真を始め、1976年にフリーランスとして独立。以来、世界各地の海を撮影する一方、東京湾の定点観測をライフワークとし、海洋環境や海に生きる生物、人々の暮らしを記録し続けている。報道写真の分野でも活躍し、新聞、テレビ、ラジオ、講演などを通じて海の魅力と環境保全の重要性を発信している。『海中顔面博覧会』『全・東京湾』『海中二万七〇〇〇時間の旅』『永遠の海』などの著作で高い評価を受け、木村伊兵衛写真賞、土門拳賞、日本写真協会年度賞などを受賞している。

Ikuo Nakamura (born 1945) is one of Japan's leading underwater photographers and photojournalists. Largely self-taught, he began underwater photography at the age of nineteen and became a freelance photographer in 1976. Throughout his career, he has documented oceans around the world while pursuing a lifelong project of photographing Tokyo Bay, capturing marine life, coastal environments, and the relationship between people and the sea. In addition to his photographic work, he has actively promoted marine conservation through books, exhibitions, broadcasting, and public lectures. His notable works include Faces Beneath the Sea, Tokyo Bay, 27,000 Hours Beneath the Sea, and The Eternal Sea. He has received numerous honors, including the Kimura Ihei Award, the Domon Ken Award, and the Annual Award of the Photographic Society of Japan.
