Kazumi Mukai A Japanese translator and writer who graduated from Waseda University's School of Letters. She has translated a wide range of nonfiction dealing with philosophy, society, and history, including works by Julian Baggini, Ann Walmsley, Benjamin Jacobs, and others. She has also worked as a school librarian, helping students participate in book discussions, while taking part in a reading group of her own for more than thirty years. In "Dokusho-kai to Iu Kofuku," she draws on this long experience to describe how people of different ages and backgrounds gather around the same book, bringing their own experiences and interpretations into conversations that deepen and sometimes transform their reading.
