森見 登美彦（tomihiko morimi）- 小説家

森見 登美彦（もりみ とみひこ、1979年–）は、日本の小説家。奈良県生まれ。京都大学農学部卒業、同大学院農学研究科修士課程修了。京都を舞台とする作品を多く手がけ、古風でユーモラスな語り口で、青年の自意識や恋心と、日常に入り込む不思議な出来事を描く。『四畳半神話大系』では、大学で別のサークルを選んでいたらという可能性を四つの物語に展開し、理想の学生生活を求めて空回りする青年の姿を描いた。京都の街で奇妙な出会いを重ねる「黒髪の乙女」と、彼女に近づこうと奮闘する先輩の恋を描く『夜は短し歩けよ乙女』で、2007年に山本周五郎賞を受賞。郊外の街に突然現れたペンギンの謎を、小学四年生の少年が観察と実験によって追う『ペンギン・ハイウェイ』で、2010年に日本SF大賞を受賞した。

Tomihiko Morimi (born 1979) is a Japanese novelist from Nara Prefecture. He graduated from Kyoto University’s Faculty of Agriculture and completed a master’s program at its Graduate School of Agriculture. Often set in Kyoto, his fiction combines an old-fashioned, humorous narrative voice with stories of youthful self-consciousness, romantic longing, and strange events intruding into everyday life. “The Tatami Galaxy” explores four alternative versions of university life, following a young man whose pursuit of an ideal college experience repeatedly goes awry. “The Night Is Short, Walk on Girl,” which won the Yamamoto Shugoro Prize in 2007, follows a young woman’s curious encounters around Kyoto and an older student’s elaborate efforts to win her affection. In “Penguin Highway,” a fourth-grade boy uses observation and experiments to investigate the mysterious appearance of penguins in his suburban town. The novel won the Japan SF Grand Prize in 2010.
