Morgan W. McCall Jr. is an American organizational psychologist and leadership-development scholar. He is professor emeritus of management and organization at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. After earning his Ph.D. from Cornell University, he served as director of research and senior behavioral scientist at the Center for Creative Leadership. His research examines how executives learn from challenging assignments, setbacks, and career transitions, as well as why some high-potential managers fail to fulfill their promise or experience career derailment. In his representative work, "High Flyers: Developing the Next Generation of Leaders," McCall explains how organizations can develop future leaders by deliberately providing growth-producing assignments and helping people extract useful lessons from experience.
