Molly Antopol is an American fiction writer and an associate professor of English and creative writing at Stanford University. Drawing partly on her Eastern European Jewish family history, she examines how the Cold War, migration, and political movements shape family relationships, marriages, and personal memory. Her debut story collection, “The UnAmericans,” moves among McCarthy-era Los Angeles, communist Prague, and contemporary Israel, following characters caught between political ideals and private obligations. The collection was a finalist for the 2014 National Book Award for Fiction and won the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award.
