Suu Morishita is the shared pen name of a two-woman Japanese manga team whose members divide the writing and illustration. They first attracted wide attention with “Hibi Chochou,” published in English as “Like a Butterfly,” a romance about two reserved high school students told through subtle expressions, gestures, and pauses. Their other works include “Shortcake Cake” and “Yubisaki to Renren,” published in English as “A Sign of Affection.” The latter follows the relationship between Yuki, a deaf university student, and Itsuomi, a multilingual traveler, and was adapted into a television anime series in 2024. Their manga explores how relationships develop through spoken language, sign language, eye contact, and physical gesture.
