Mamoru Mochizuki is a Japanese translator of English-language nonfiction on finance, economics, and decision-making. Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s “The Black Swan” examines rare events with large consequences and biases in how people understand uncertainty. Mochizuki co-translated Andrew W. Lo’s “Adaptive Markets” with Toshio Chiba; the book considers financial markets through participants’ adaptation to changing environments. Alan B. Krueger’s “Rockonomics” uses earnings, inequality, and technological change in the music industry to explain wider economic mechanisms. Across these translations, he introduces approaches to risk and to the behavior of individuals and institutions within markets.
