宮脇 俊三（miyawaki shunzo）- 編集者、紀行作家

宮脇俊三（みやわき しゅんぞう、1926–2003） 紀行作家、編集者。東京大学卒業後、中央公論社に入社し、『中央公論』編集長や常務取締役を務めるとともに、『日本の歴史』『世界の歴史』シリーズや『中公新書』の創刊に携わった。退社後は鉄道紀行作家として活躍し、鉄道旅行を文学として描く新たな分野を切り開いた。『時刻表2万キロ』は、会社員時代に週末を利用して国鉄全線約2万キロの完乗を目指した旅の記録をユーモア豊かに綴り、鉄道旅行の魅力と時刻表を読み解く楽しさを伝えた代表作である。

Shunzō Miyawaki (1926–2003) was a Japanese travel writer and editor who established railway travel writing as a distinct literary genre. After a distinguished editorial career at Chūōkōronsha, where he helped launch the influential Chūkō Shinsho series, he devoted himself to writing travel literature centered on railways. His best-known book, "Jikokuhyō 20,000 Kilometers" ("Timetable 20,000 Kilometers"), chronicles his quest to travel every Japanese National Railways line, conveying both the pleasures of railway journeys and the fascination of planning them through railway timetables.
