Hideki Miyashita (born 1976) is a Japanese manga artist from Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture. He made his debut in Weekly Young Magazine in 2001 with "Haru no Tegami," which received the Grand Prize at the 44th Tetsuya Chiba Awards. His representative work, "Sengoku," follows the historical warrior Sengoku Gonbei Hidehisa, tracing his rise from a low-ranking retainer serving Oda Nobunaga and Hashiba Hideyoshi to a daimyo, his disastrous defeat at the Battle of Hetsugigawa, and his eventual return to power. Miyashita combined documentary research with visits to battlefields and castle sites and interviews with local historians, incorporating terrain, weaponry, logistics, and political decision-making into the narrative. Serialized across eighteen years from 2004, the series presents the Sengoku period through the career of a man who lost his status through failure and then fought to recover his reputation and domain.
