Mitchell Duneier（ミッチェル・デュナイアー、1957年生まれ）は、アメリカの社会学者、作家。ウィスコンシン大学マディソン校で社会学の博士号を取得し、現在はPrinceton Universityモーリス・P・デュリン社会科学教授を務める。都市社会学、人種、貧困、不平等、エスノグラフィー（参与観察）を専門とし、都市空間で暮らす人々の日常を丹念なフィールドワークを通じて描き出す研究で国際的に高く評価されている。実証的な調査と優れた物語性を融合させた著作は、現代アメリカ社会が抱える格差や人種問題を深く考察するものとして広く読まれている。学術研究と一般読者向けノンフィクションの橋渡しを行う社会学者として、現代都市研究とエスノグラフィーの発展に大きく貢献している。
Mitchell Duneier (born 1957) is an American sociologist and author specializing in urban sociology, race, poverty, inequality, and ethnographic research. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and is the Maurice P. During Professor of Sociology at Princeton University. Renowned for immersive fieldwork and richly detailed ethnography, Duneier examines the everyday lives of people in urban environments, exploring issues such as homelessness, informal economies, racial inequality, and public space. His work combines rigorous social science with compelling narrative, making complex sociological questions accessible to both academic and general audiences.
