Missouri Williams (born 1992) is a British novelist and editor whose work has appeared in The Nation, The Baffler, Granta, and other publications. Her debut novel, "The Doloriad," published in 2022, depicts an isolated family struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world and won the 2023 Republic of Consciousness Prize. Her fiction frequently explores domination, cruelty, alienation, and troubled family relationships through absurdism, grotesque imagery, and dark humor. Her second novel, "The Vivisectors," was longlisted for the 2026 Booker Prize. Set around a university and narrated by Agathe, a disaffected academic assistant, the novel follows her difficult relationship with her mother and her hostility toward colleagues and the institution around her, using satire and absurdity to examine intellectual authority, academic life, and the unstable ways in which people interpret one another.
