Eiji Mitachi is a Japanese translator of nonfiction on business, philosophy, society, and health. His work includes books on customer service and empowerment, examining how organizations respond to people and develop their employees’ abilities. In Scott Hershovitz’s “Nasty, Brutish, and Short,” he translated an exploration of philosophical questions prompted by conversations with children, ranging from justice to knowledge and existence. Gabrielle Lyon’s “Forever Strong,” published in Japanese as “Kinniku ga Subete,” considers muscle as a foundation of health and examines its relationship with exercise, nutrition, and aging. His translations introduce both practical approaches and broader questions about human life.
