Miho Michimoto is a Japanese translator specializing in nonfiction in the social sciences and humanities. She graduated in sociology from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Letters. A. C. Grayling’s “Who Owns the Moon?” uses precedents from Antarctica, the oceans, and Africa to consider who should control territory and resources in space. Her translation of Angela Saini’s “The Patriarchs” questions the assumption that male domination is an unchanging feature of human societies. Robin Reames’s work on rhetoric examines the relationship between persuasion and democracy. Michimoto also translates investigative reporting, bringing together analyses of social structures and accounts of individual experience.
