(Artificial Unintelligence: How Computers Misunderstand the World)では、教育評価や自動運転などの事例を通じて、AIは人間が設計した特定用途のプログラムであり、その能力と限界を理解したうえで導入の是非を判断する必要があることを示している。
Meredith Broussard is an American data journalist and computer scientist. After working as a software developer at AT&T Bell Laboratories and the MIT Media Lab and as a reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer, she became a professor at New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute and Research Director of the NYU Alliance for Public Interest Technology. Her work combines investigative reporting with the critical examination of artificial intelligence, challenging “technochauvinism”—the belief that technology is inherently the best solution to social problems. In “Artificial Unintelligence: How Computers Misunderstand the World,” Broussard uses examples including standardized testing and self-driving cars to show that AI consists of human-designed systems built for limited purposes and that decisions about its use must begin with a clear understanding of what computers can and cannot do.
