Megha Majumdar is an Indian-born novelist and editor. Raised in Kolkata, she studied social anthropology at Harvard University before completing graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. Her debut novel, *A Burning*, became a *New York Times* bestseller and was widely acclaimed for its powerful portrayal of inequality, religious tension, and populist politics in contemporary India. A finalist for the National Book Award, the novel established Majumdar as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary fiction. She is also the author of *A Guardian and a Thief* and lives in New York City.
