Working in information society studies and media sociology, he analyzes smartphone use records, surveys, and social media posts to study how people use information and how online opinion forms. In “Haiburiddo Esunogurafi,” he sets out a method that combines online records with interviews, examining digital behavior in the context of everyday relationships and social settings. The book won the 2019 Outstanding Publication Award from the Society of Socio-Informatics. “Sumaho wa Kokoro o Ayatsuru” uses smartphone records to investigate how notifications and app design affect attention, emotions, and habits.
