Caroline Elkins（キャロライン・エルキンズ、1969年生まれ）は、アメリカの歴史学者。ハーバード大学歴史学部教授。専門はイギリス帝国史、植民地主義、アフリカ史、人権史で、とりわけ植民地支配下における暴力と強制収容、脱植民地化の歴史を研究している。膨大な公文書とオーラルヒストリーに基づく研究で国際的に高く評価され、2005年刊行の『Imperial Reckoning: The Untold Story of Britain's Gulag in Kenya』（英国版タイトル Britain's Gulag）で2006年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。近年は大英帝国の暴力とその世界史的影響を論じた『Legacy of Violence: A History of the British Empire』でも大きな反響を呼んでいる。著書に『Imperial Reckoning』『Legacy of Violence』などがある。
Caroline Elkins (born 1969) is an American historian and Professor of History at the Harvard University. Her research focuses on the history of the British Empire, colonialism, Africa, human rights, and decolonization, with particular emphasis on state violence and detention systems under imperial rule. Widely recognized for her extensive archival research and oral history interviews, she won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for "Imperial Reckoning: The Untold Story of Britain's Gulag in Kenya" (published in the United Kingdom as "Britain's Gulag"). Her later book, "Legacy of Violence: A History of the British Empire," offers a sweeping reinterpretation of the British Empire through the lens of systemic violence and its enduring global consequences. Her work has made a major contribution to the study of empire and colonial history.
