Kevin Young (1970–) is an American poet, critic, and editor. He serves as poetry editor of The New Yorker and has directed both the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. In "Bunk: The Rise of Hoaxes, Humbug, Plagiarists, Phonies, Post-Facts, and Fake News," Young traces the American history of deception—from P. T. Barnum’s spectacles to forgery, plagiarism, and fake news. The book examines how racial prejudice and commercial interests have helped persuasive falsehoods take hold in public life. It was longlisted for the 2017 National Book Award for Nonfiction and won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.
