Kelly Weinersmith（ケリー・ワイナースミス）は、アメリカの生物学者、寄生虫学者、サイエンスライター。University of California, Davisで生態学の博士号（Ph.D.）を取得し、現在はRice University生物科学部門の非常勤教員を務める。専門は寄生虫が宿主の行動を操作する仕組みを研究する寄生虫生態学で、その研究成果は Nature、Science、National Geographic などで紹介されている。また、一般向け科学書の執筆でも知られ、夫で漫画家のZach Weinersmithとの共著 "Soonish" は The New York Times ベストセラーとなった。続く "A City on Mars" は宇宙移住の科学的・社会的課題を多角的に検証した話題作で、2024年のRoyal Society Trivedi Science Book PrizeとHugo Award for Best Related Workを受賞した。
Kelly Weinersmith is an American biologist, parasitologist, science writer, and podcaster. She earned her Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California, Davis and serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of BioSciences at Rice University. Her research focuses on parasite ecology, particularly the ways parasites manipulate the behavior of their hosts, and has been featured in Nature, Science, National Geographic, and other major publications. Beyond her scientific research, she is widely known for co-authoring popular science books with her husband, cartoonist Zach Weinersmith. Their first book, "Soonish: Ten Emerging Technologies That'll Improve and/or Ruin Everything," became a New York Times bestseller, while "A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Should We Settle Space, and Have We Really Thought This Through?" won the 2024 Royal Society Trivedi Science Book Prize and the Hugo Award for Best Related Work for its thoughtful examination of the scientific, legal, and social challenges of human settlement beyond Earth.
