Garry Wills（ギャリー・ウィルズ、1934年生まれ）は、アメリカの歴史学者、政治評論家、作家。セントルイス大学卒業後、イェール大学で古典学の博士号（Ph.D.）を取得した。アメリカ政治思想、建国史、宗教、古典学を専門とし、長年にわたり幅広いテーマで執筆活動を続けている。歴史・政治・宗教を鋭い視点で読み解く論考で高く評価され、1981年刊行の『Explaining America: The Federalist』で1982年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門を受賞した。代表作『Lincoln at Gettysburg』は、エイブラハム・リンカーンのゲティスバーグ演説を新たな視点から読み解いた古典的研究として広く知られている。著書に『Explaining America』『Lincoln at Gettysburg』『Under God』『What Jesus Meant』『Why I Am a Catholic』などがある。
Garry Wills (born 1934) is an American historian, political commentator, and author. After graduating from Saint Louis University, he earned his Ph.D. in Classics from Yale University. His scholarship spans American political thought, the founding era, religion, and classical studies, and he has written extensively on the intellectual history of the United States. Renowned for his insightful interpretations of American history and political culture, he won the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for "Explaining America: The Federalist." His influential book "Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America" reshaped scholarly understanding of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and is widely regarded as a classic of American historical writing. His other notable works include "Under God," "What Jesus Meant," and "Why I Am a Catholic."
