ゲイブ・ブラード（Gabe Bullard）は、アメリカ出身のジャーナリスト、批評家、オーディオ・プロデューサー。公共ラジオ局Louisville Public Mediaで記者やニュース部門責任者を務めた後、National Geographic、公共ラジオ番組「1A」、WAMU/DCistなどで編集・デジタル戦略に携わり、NPRの「Here & Now」ではマネージング・プロデューサーを務めた。2015年にハーバード大学ニーマン・フェローに選ばれ、ノスタルジアとポピュラーカルチャー、テクノロジーが人々の生活や時間感覚に与える影響を取材・研究している。初の著書『Against Convenience』（未邦訳）では、デリバリー、配車サービス、ストリーミングなど、生活を簡単にするはずのサービスやテクノロジーを取り上げ、「便利さ」が本当に時間や労力を減らしているのかを検証する。効率化の陰で生じる新たな負担や孤立、文化や人間関係への影響をたどり、あえて手間や摩擦を残すことの意味を考察している。
Gabe Bullard is an American journalist, critic, and audio producer whose work explores nostalgia, popular culture, technology, and their effects on everyday life. He began his career at Louisville Public Media, where he worked as a reporter and later led its news operation, before holding editorial and digital roles at National Geographic, 1A, and WAMU/DCist. He later served as managing producer of NPR's "Here & Now" and was a 2015 Nieman Journalism Fellow at Harvard University. In his first book, "Against Convenience," Bullard examines delivery apps, streaming services, and other technologies designed to make everyday life easier, asking whether convenience actually saves time and effort. He explores the hidden work, isolation, and cultural costs that can accompany frictionless technology and considers what can be gained by deliberately preserving effort and friction in daily life.
