Natsuki Ikezawa (born 1945) is a Japanese novelist, poet, and translator from Hokkaido. He studied physics at Saitama University and lived in Greece and other locations before making his debut as a novelist in 1984 with "Natsu no Asa no Seisōken." Drawing on his interest in the natural sciences and his experience of living and traveling in different regions, Ikezawa connects islands, oceans, environmental change, war, and colonial rule with individual lives and memories. He received the Akutagawa Prize for "Still Life" and later selected and edited all thirty volumes of both the Ikezawa Natsuki World Literature Collection and the Ikezawa Natsuki Japanese Literature Collection, each of which received the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award. His representative novel, "Mashiasu Giri no Shikkyaku," won the Tanizaki Junichiro Prize and depicts the downfall of a president who uses his connections with Japan to consolidate power in a formerly colonized South Pacific island nation, only to become surrounded by local legends, ghosts, and rumors after a bus carrying a Japanese memorial group disappears.
