イザベル・ウィルカーソン（Isabel Wilkerson、1961年 - ） アメリカのジャーナリスト、ノンフィクション作家。『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』のシカゴ支局長を務め、1994年、特集記事によってピューリッツァー賞を受賞した初のアフリカ系アメリカ人女性となった。長年にわたる取材と歴史研究をもとに、アメリカ社会における人種、不平等、社会的階層の構造を描いている。『The Warmth of Other Suns』（未邦訳）では、20世紀に南部を離れたアフリカ系アメリカ人の「グレート・マイグレーション」を個人の物語を通して記録した。『カースト アメリカに渦巻く不満の根源』では、アメリカの人種的な階層をカースト制度として捉え直し、差別を支える社会構造を明らかにした。
Isabel Wilkerson (born 1961) is an American journalist and nonfiction author whose work examines race, inequality, and social hierarchy in the United States. A former Chicago Bureau Chief of The New York Times, she became the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in journalism when she received the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing in 1994. Drawing on extensive reporting, archival research, and personal testimony, she documented the migration of African Americans from the South in The Warmth of Other Suns. In Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, she reframed America’s racial hierarchy as a caste system and explored the social structures that have sustained inequality across generations.
