Sachiko Ikushima translates writing on social thought, politics, women, and aging. Born in Tokyo in 1951, she graduated from Waseda University’s School of Political Science and Economics. With Yumiko Murakami, she translated Naomi Klein’s The Shock Doctrine, which investigates economic reforms advanced amid the disruption of wars, disasters, and political crises. She also translated Klein’s Doppelganger, published in Japanese in 2025, a work that begins with mistaken identity and develops into an investigation of conspiracy theories and political division. Her translation of May Sarton’s Endgame: A Journal of the Seventy-Ninth Year follows the poet’s experiences of aging, illness, daily life, and writing.
