福本 伸行（nobuyuki hukumoto）- 漫画家

福本伸行（ふくもと のぶゆき、1958年–）は、神奈川県出身の漫画家。1980年、『よろしく純情大将』でデビューし、借金や賭博、暴力的な組織に追い詰められた人物の心理を描く作品を発表してきた。代表作『賭博黙示録カイジ』は、友人の借金の保証人となった伊藤開司が、多額の債務を返済するため、金融会社の用意した命懸けのゲームに参加する物語である。限定ジャンケンなど単純な規則のゲームに、情報格差、集団心理、裏切り、搾取の仕組みを組み込み、参加者が恐怖や欲望のなかで判断を誤る過程と、追い詰められたカイジが逆転の方法を見つけるまでを描いた。同作は第22回講談社漫画賞を受賞し、テレビアニメや実写映画にもなった。

Nobuyuki Fukumoto (born 1958) is a Japanese manga artist from Kanagawa Prefecture. He made his debut in 1980 with "Yoroshiku Junjō Taishō" and has built his career around characters trapped by debt, gambling, and coercive organizations. His representative work, "Gambling Apocalypse: Kaiji," follows Kaiji Ito, who becomes liable for a friend’s unpaid loan and enters life-threatening games arranged by a finance company in an attempt to clear the resulting debt. Fukumoto turns simple contests such as restricted rock-paper-scissors into studies of unequal information, group psychology, betrayal, and exploitation, tracing how fear and greed distort judgment and how Kaiji searches for a way to reverse seemingly hopeless situations. The manga received the 22nd Kodansha Manga Award and was adapted into television anime and live-action films.
