Philip Delves Broughton is a British journalist and author. He studied classics at the University of Oxford and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. After working for ten years as a reporter and foreign correspondent for The Daily Telegraph, he began contributing regularly to publications including the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal. In “Ahead of the Curve: Two Years at Harvard Business School” (『ハーバードビジネススクール 不幸な人間の製造工場』), he draws on his experience as a student to portray the inner world of business school, shaped by case studies, competition, and the pursuit of success. In “The Art of the Sale” / “Life’s a Pitch” (『なぜハーバード・ビジネス・スクールでは営業を教えないのか? 拒絶から始まる世界一やりがいのある仕事』), he travels across industries to meet salespeople and examines selling not merely as a technique, but as a practice involving persuasion, trust, and human relationships. His writing explores business education, management, and the realities of sales through the combined perspectives of a journalist and a business-school graduate.
