フランス・ドゥ・ヴァール（Frans de Waal、1948–2024） オランダ生まれの霊長類学者、動物行動学者。チンパンジーやボノボの社会行動を長年研究し、共感や協力、道徳性の進化について数多くの研究と著作を発表した。『道徳性の起源―ボノボが教えてくれること』（原題 "The Bonobo and the Atheist: In Search of Humanism Among the Primates"）は、霊長類の行動研究をもとに、人間の道徳や利他性の起源を考察している。
Frans de Waal (1948–2024) was a Dutch primatologist and ethologist. Through decades of research on chimpanzees and bonobos, he transformed our understanding of empathy, cooperation, and the evolutionary origins of morality. His best-known book, "The Bonobo and the Atheist: In Search of Humanism Among the Primates," explores how the social behavior of primates sheds light on the biological foundations of human morality and altruism.
