Frances FitzGerald（フランシス・フィッツジェラルド、1940年生まれ）は、アメリカのジャーナリスト、歴史作家。ハーバード大学卒業。ベトナム戦争、アメリカ政治、宗教、外交政策をテーマとするノンフィクションで高く評価され、現地取材と歴史分析を融合させた作品で知られる。1972年刊行の『Fire in the Lake: The Vietnamese and the Americans in Vietnam』は、ベトナム戦争をベトナム人の歴史・文化・価値観から描き直した画期的な作品として、1973年のピューリッツァー賞 一般ノンフィクション部門、全米図書賞、バンクロフト賞を受賞した。近年はアメリカ福音派の歴史を描いた『The Evangelicals: The Struggle to Shape America』でも高い評価を受けている。著書に『Fire in the Lake』『Cities on a Hill』『The Evangelicals』などがある。
Frances FitzGerald (born 1940) is an American journalist and historian. A graduate of Harvard University, she is renowned for her works on the Vietnam War, American politics, religion, and foreign policy. Combining immersive reporting with historical analysis, she has produced some of the most influential works of narrative nonfiction in these fields. Her landmark book Fire in the Lake: The Vietnamese and the Americans in Vietnam reinterpreted the Vietnam War through the history and culture of the Vietnamese people and won the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, the National Book Award, and the Bancroft Prize. Her later works include Cities on a Hill and The Evangelicals: The Struggle to Shape America, which examines the rise and influence of evangelical Christianity in American politics.
