Ferris Jabr（フェリス・ジャブル） アメリカのサイエンスライター、ジャーナリスト。生命科学、地球科学、環境問題を中心に執筆し、『The New York Times Magazine』の寄稿ライターを務めるほか、『The New Yorker』『The Atlantic』『Harper's』『National Geographic』『Scientific American』などに寄稿している。ニューヨーク大学でジャーナリズムの修士号を取得し、イェール大学、MIT、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校などのフェローシップにも選ばれた。代表作『Becoming Earth: How Our Planet Came to Life』（未邦訳）は、生命が地球環境に適応してきただけでなく、大気、海洋、大陸そのものを絶えず作り変えてきたことを、世界各地の取材と最新の科学研究を通して描いた科学ノンフィクションである。地球を生命の単なる舞台ではなく、生命と無機的環境が相互作用しながら形成してきた動的な存在として捉え直している。
Ferris Jabr is an American science writer and journalist whose work focuses on biology, Earth science, and the environment. He is a contributing writer for "The New York Times Magazine" and has also written for "The New Yorker," "The Atlantic," "Harper's," "National Geographic," and "Scientific American." He earned a master's degree in journalism from New York University and has received fellowships from Yale University, MIT, and the University of California, Berkeley. His best-known book, "Becoming Earth: How Our Planet Came to Life," examines how living organisms have not merely adapted to Earth but have continually transformed its atmosphere, oceans, and continents. Combining global reporting with research in geology, biology, and climate science, the book presents Earth as a dynamic system created through the ongoing interaction between life and the physical planet.
