Fei-Fei Li (1976–) is a Chinese-born American computer scientist and artificial intelligence researcher. She studied physics at Princeton University and earned her Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. She is a professor of computer science at Stanford University and the co-founder and co-director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. She also co-founded and leads World Labs, a company developing AI with spatial intelligence. Beginning in 2007, Li led the creation of ImageNet, a categorized database containing more than fourteen million images. Together with the ImageNet recognition challenge, it helped accelerate the development of deep-learning-based computer vision. “The Worlds I See: Curiosity, Exploration, and Discovery at the Dawn of AI” intertwines her experience of immigrating from China and helping in her family’s dry-cleaning business with the scientific path that led from ImageNet to her advocacy for human-centered AI.
