Jun Furuya (born 1947) is a Japanese political scientist and historian specializing in American politics and diplomatic history. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he studied at its graduate school and earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University. He taught at Hokkaido University, the University of Tokyo, and Hokkai School of Commerce, and is professor emeritus at both the University of Tokyo and Hokkaido University. His book *Americanism: The Nationalism of a “Universal Nation”* examines the distinctive nationalism underlying America’s claims to universal political values.
